Iftar at Al Fanous Tent

IMG_4223

During Ramadan, most of our social outings take place in Ramadan tents, where we get to dine on delicious food, share laughs and spend quality time with our friends. We recently had the pleasure of dining at Al Fanous tent for Iftar, and we have to say, it’s one of nicest tents we’ve seen in Abu Dhabi.

Ramadan with Sauce

_FAR1743

Ramadan is a peaceful month filled with love, reflection, and quality time with family and friends. Although women dress conservatively during this holy month, it doesn’t stop them from being stylish… and we love seeing all the fashion trends of the year come to life in the form of long skirts, sleeves and beautiful embroidered abayas!

This year we were particularly impressed with Sauce’s Ramadan collection, which includes Zayan the Label, Chouhan, Suecomma Bonnie, Michaela Burger, Manish Arora, Adelya, and Alessa. If you’ve been following us for awhile, you’d know how much we love bright colors and this is what attracted us to Sauce’s collection, as it reflects the trending summery colors while preserving the values of the holy month of Ramadan. Here are some of our favorite outfits to show you!

Married with or without kids?

b7221af2-5c18-45c6-86c2-4be7d144d005

When you’re married, with or without kids, you’re subjected to some level of scrutiny from society.  If you don’t have kids, people wonder if you’re having marital or fertility problems. If you have kids, people question why you had them so soon or so late. And although the questions around this topic stem from good intentions, it still feels like a socially inappropriate topic to engage in, especially in small talk.

Rehab Abdulla, a promising Emirati woman

IMG_3825.jpg

We’ve always been inspired by Emirati women. Their strength, confidence and intelligence have helped them succeed in their endeavors and gain a strong presence in society. Not to mention, the constant support that the UAE leadership provides to empower Emirati women to reach their goals and dreams.  And despite the success of these women, we admire how they stay true to themselves and celebrate their cultural identities.

We were recently introduced to Rehab Abdulla, a young and hardworking Emirati woman who paved a fruitful career path for herself as a TV host and presenter on Abu Dhabi TV. Seeing Rehab on TV and meeting her in person was a delightful experience- she’s even lovelier and more genuine face to face. We got a real feel of her passion for education and fashion, and had a great time getting to know her on a personal level.

Here’s what Rehab shared with us…

March’s beauty favorites

Nivea 5.jpg

It’s spring time, which usually means dry skin. For cleansing and moisturizing our skin, we use Nivea’s products. A brand that’s been around for 100 years, Nivea is a timeless product line. We’ve witnessed our mothers and even our grandmothers using Nivea products over the years without disappointment.

Since we love this brand so much, we wanted to share our favorite products from our daily skin care routine.

Less judgment, more love

DSC_9749.jpg

Let’s face it, women are always being judged. We’re judged on our level of education; whether we’re married, or not married; if we have kids or if we don’t have kids; whether we have a girl or a boy; if we’re stay at home moms, or working moms; if we’re overdressed or underdressed; if we’re too thin or too fat; if we follow the trend or if we stand out; if we express our emotions or if we hide them… and the judgments go on and on.

Frankly, we’re sick of it.

A taste of The Hamptons

DSC_2727

We recently took a trip to Dubai specifically to visit The Hamptons Cafe. It was highly recommended to us by a dear friend, and being the foodies that we are, we couldn’t wait to check it out.

We had heard great things about the food there, but it was actually the theme of the cafe that got us excited. The Hamptons Cafe in Dubai was inspired by The Hamptons in Long Island, which is known to many for its luxuriousness and the high status of its residents. However what really makes that region stand out is the greenery, vivid colors and picturesque scenery, making it the perfect summer home location in the US.

The owner of The Hamptons Cafe had the idea of recreating the same style and decor that he had seen when he had visited The Hamptons, Long Island. And this recreation is what makes this boutique cafe unique, and what made us fall in love!
