Rara’s Maldivian getaway in Abu Dhabi

For my husband and I’s sixth wedding anniversary, we wanted a staycation in the city we love: Abu Dhabi. Because we’re December weds, we like celebrating our wedding anniversary in Abu Dhabi just because the weather is perfect during this time of year and the city has a lot to offer. So when we discovered a beautiful new hotel has opened in the heart of Abu Dhabi, Royal M Hotel, we booked a weekend stay without hesitation.

One piece of Bosnia in Abu Dhabi!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

What we love about living in Abu Dhabi is that although we still belong to the Arab world, we are surrounded by diversity and culture! And what better way to learn about a culture than through its art and fashion.

We’re always seeking out emerging brands that have a story to tell. Authentic, real brands that inspire us and that we can learn from everyday. That’s why we were delighted when we discovered a hidden gem in Abu Dhabi’s ever growing world of fashion: One Piece Concept – the first Bosnian concept store in the UAE, and probably in the world too!

Iftar at Al Fanous Tent

IMG_4223

During Ramadan, most of our social outings take place in Ramadan tents, where we get to dine on delicious food, share laughs and spend quality time with our friends. We recently had the pleasure of dining at Al Fanous tent for Iftar, and we have to say, it’s one of nicest tents we’ve seen in Abu Dhabi.

Less judgment, more love

DSC_9749.jpg

Let’s face it, women are always being judged. We’re judged on our level of education; whether we’re married, or not married; if we have kids or if we don’t have kids; whether we have a girl or a boy; if we’re stay at home moms, or working moms; if we’re overdressed or underdressed; if we’re too thin or too fat; if we follow the trend or if we stand out; if we express our emotions or if we hide them… and the judgments go on and on.

Frankly, we’re sick of it.

A taste of The Hamptons

DSC_2727

We recently took a trip to Dubai specifically to visit The Hamptons Cafe. It was highly recommended to us by a dear friend, and being the foodies that we are, we couldn’t wait to check it out.

We had heard great things about the food there, but it was actually the theme of the cafe that got us excited. The Hamptons Cafe in Dubai was inspired by The Hamptons in Long Island, which is known to many for its luxuriousness and the high status of its residents. However what really makes that region stand out is the greenery, vivid colors and picturesque scenery, making it the perfect summer home location in the US.

The owner of The Hamptons Cafe had the idea of recreating the same style and decor that he had seen when he had visited The Hamptons, Long Island. And this recreation is what makes this boutique cafe unique, and what made us fall in love!

Getting through hard times

The year 2017 was a challenging and rewarding year for us both. Sisi had a rough pregnancy but became a mom to a precious baby girl! Rara strived to balance her job, life and grad school, and will soon hold a master’s degree!

It was the year we launched our blog; which was something we had always wanted to do. And our blog proved to be a passion of ours, as it never felt like work for us, and it is a source of happiness that’s for sure.

With all the challenges and responsibilities we faced during the year, these are three things that helped us get through hard times and persevere even on our darkest days.

Rara’s summer in Lebanon

IMG_1848

I left Lebanon around eight years ago to continue my studies abroad, that’s when I moved to Abu Dhabi and started a whole new life. Having been born and raised in Lebanon, I have a deep love and admiration for my beautiful country. And I always return to visit my family and friends every chance I get.

I spent an amazing summer in Lebanon this year! From the moment I arrived, I felt liberated from the stress and weight I had carried from work, responsibilities and life in general. I was ready to let go, relax and enjoy a wonderful summer vacation.

We recently enjoyed a cute and cozy iftar with our hubbies at La Terrazza, Hilton Abu Dhabi. La Terrazza offered a mediterranean buffet full of delicious food and a friendly and intimate atmosphere. We were happy to see the restaurant was packed with couples and families, which really speaks for the popularity of the place. We were lucky to get a table!
