Spinach and Feta Savory Cake


Not all cakes are sweet! Savory cakes are so delicious and perfect for breakfast or brunch for a change. Next time you’re hosting people during the day or want to spoil yourself on a Saturday morning, try out this super easy and delicious spinach and feta savory cake.  


  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 Tbsp of baking powder
  • 1 cup gruyère cheese minced (optional)
  • 2 cups Feta cheese
  • 2/3 cup vegetable oil
  • Fresh basil leaves
  • 3 large handfuls of fresh raw spinach (or frozen chopped spinach)
  • Salt (upon preference)
  • Pepper (upon preference)


  1. Cover a loaf pan with parchment paper
  2. Wash and chop the spinach (or thaw the frozen spinach)
  3. In a bowl lightly beat the eggs and add milk, oil, salt and pepper
  4. Add flour and baking powder to the mixture
  5. Add the feta cheese, scrambling it with your fingers, the gruyère cheese, the chopped spinach and basil leaves
  6. Pour the mixture into the pan and let it rest for 20 minutes
  7. Preheat the oven to 180°C and bake the cake for 45-50 minutes or until well done
